Beyond Manual Exports: Engineering a High-Performance Automation for Microsoft Clarity

In the world of UX research and Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), Microsoft Clarity has emerged as a powerhouse. Its ability to capture heatmaps, session recordings, and frustration metrics like “Rage Clicks” or “Dead Clicks” is unparalleled.

However, there is a silent killer of productivity in the modern data stack: Manual Data Handling.

If your daily workflow involves navigating through menus, filtering dates, and clicking “Export to CSV” just to get your data into a dashboard, you aren’t analyzing—you’re performing administrative tasks. In 2026, efficiency is no longer optional; it is a competitive requirement.

That is why I decided to bridge the gap between Clarity’s raw power and actionable reporting by engineering the Clarity2Sheet—an open-source automation suite designed for high-impact data professionals (video at bottom page).

The goal was simple: Eliminate the friction between the data source and the decision-maker. I’ve developed a dual-layered solution that integrates directly into your existing environment:

1. The Chrome Extension: A lightweight, high-speed interface that allows you to query the Clarity Data Export API instantly. No more tab-switching; get your “Page-level” and “Browser-level” metrics in a single click.
2. The Google Sheets Connector: A custom-built Apps Script integration that allows you to use Clarity data like a native spreadsheet function. This turns your Google Sheets into a live, automated UX dashboard.
